If you are interested in serving as a Commissioner for WPB, the first step is to complete an application, including all of the forms below. To be eligible, you must own or rent property that is included in the WPB taxing district. (WPB boundary map can be found here.)
WPB has created standard operating procedures for succession planning, including the required application materials to be completed and the annual time line. Typically, the SSA will receive applications from interested candidates and incumbents in April. New Commissioners will attend Commission meetings as audience members until formally approved by City Hall/Mayoral appointment in September. For more information, please read WPB Succession Planning. The following three documents are provided for reference, and do not need to be submitted with the initial application. All applicants should be prepared to complete these forms should they be selected to serve as a Commissioner.

Once your application is complete, please submit copies to your Alderman’s office and to WPB for review. If you have questions, please contact Jamie at 773.235.6385.
Use this checklist to be sure you have submitted everything:

- –Signed commitment letter
- –Signed form indicating receipt and understanding of current by-laws, service provider agreement, and SSA conflict of interest statement
- –Other required City documents (Child Support Affidavit, Principal Profile Form, and Statement of Financial Interest) will be provided for reference, but are not required at this point in the process. Applicants should be prepared to complete these documents if they receive aldermanic approval.

- –Brief letter describing why they want to be a commissioner and what they hope to accomplish as a commissioner, what committees they are interested in; in the case of an incumbent, a brief letter describing what they have accomplished as a commissioner as well as what they hope to accomplish in another term
- –List of addresses owned or rented in the SSA District
- –Disclosure of any other neighborhood affiliation (Chamber member, BCO, WPC, etc)
